Fungi For The Puget Sound

How to Support the OMN

Join the fun!
Come join our meetings and work parties to learn how to plug in to all of our ongoing and upcoming projects. We meet every other Saturday at Media Island in downtown Olympia. Media Island is located at 816 Adams St, across from the library.

Invite us to your event!
The OMN is always happy to share what we know with the Olympia community and beyond. Please contact at us olymyconetwork (at) gmail (dot) com if you would like us to present at your event! Our members have spoken at the Olympia Village Building Convergence, The Occupy Solidarity Social Forum, The Real Food & Resistance Convergence, EcoSex Sympoium, Northwest Permaculture Convergence, the Olympia Transitions Fair, and similar events.

Give us your wood!
Growing many of the mushrooms we work with requires a lot of wood and is our single greatest limiting factor in the extent to which we can bring fungi to the Olympia community. However, sourcing the right kind of wood can be difficult and the cutting, chipping, and hauling of the wood takes a lot of time from our volunteer’s lives. Can you help us? We are hoping to build relationships with land owners, tree toppers, arborists, landscapers, and anyone that has a surplus of wood! If this sounds like you, the following wood types are preferred species that we can work with:

  • Alder
  • Maple
  • Oak
  • Birch
  • Beech
  • Willow
  • Eucalyptus
  • Cottonwood
  • Sweetgum
  • Douglas-Fir (a little bit)

However, most hardwoods will work. Please contact us at olymyconetwork (at) gmail (dot) com if you have wood to donate and hopefully we can work something out. Thanks!

We’re an all volunteer run group that runs entirely off of donations, we have some items we like to give to our donors. If you’re interested in donating to the group contact us. Right now we have Turkey tail logs to give away to our donors! We always appreciate your support!
